Geconditioneerd gedrag. Hoe moeilijk het is door grenzen te breken die door maatschappij, geschiedenis, mensen in het algemeen opgelegd worden. Een idyllisch landschap wordt een splijtzwam die niet betreden mag worden. De grens, een broos lint.

Conditioned behavior. How difficult it is to break through boundaries imposed by society, history, people in general. An idyllic landscape becomes a bone of contention that may not be crossed. The border, a fragile ribbon.

Waar zijn we naar op zoek? Hebben we nog niet genoeg gevonden? Is de samenhorigheid van het zoeken in groep de drijfveer of is het de onstuitbare, innerlijke drang die ons drijft?

What are we looking for? Haven't we found enough yet? Is the solidarity of searching in a group the driving force or is it the unstoppable, inner urge that drives us?

'Indian Summer'

Kaminsky aan de Tiensepoort en stadscafé Vandevelde in Leuven houden de warmte van de zomerdagen nog even vast met een selectie van mijn recentste werk. Nieuwsgierig naar meer? De deur van mijn atelier, koning Albertlaan 15, staat altijd open voor een bezoek, als ik thuis ben ;-)

Triootje - Threesome

Vanaf augustus 2024 hangen drie recente werken aan de 'wall of fame' van het 'stadscafé Van De Velde' in Leuven.

Een oase van rust in de binnenstad. Een fijne omgeving – met een hart voor kunst – om te vertoeven.

En, … één verdieping hoger hangt een échte 'Rinus' te blinken. Je kan slechtere buren hebben. Komt dat zien ;-)

Three recent works will be on display from August 2024 on the 'wall of fame' of the 'city café Van De Velde' in Leuven.

An oasis of peace in the city center. A nice environment to stay with a heart for art.

And, … one floor higher you'll find a real, gigantic 'Rinus' hanging there. Worth a visit, I would say ;-)

'Ontroerd' - Moved

Kunst kán ontroeren. Ik mocht het ervaren in het open atelierweekend, waar een oudere man, tot tranen toe bewogen was bij het zien van dit werk. In gedachten sloot ik hem in mijn armen.

Art cán move. I was able to experience it at my open atelier weekend, where an older man was moved to tears when he saw this work. In my mind I held him in my arms.

"Waar is hij naar op zoek?' vroegen ze. "Waar zijn wij naar op zoek?" repliceerde ik: "Naar iets unieks, iets waardevols, ...? Of is het zoeken zelf de meerwaarde in het leven?".

"What is he looking for?" they asked. "What are we looking for?" I replied: "For something unique, something valuable, ...? Or is the search itself the added value in life?"

'Metropole Leuven'

Momenteel siert een nieuw werk het interieur van Café Metropole, Grote Markt Leuven. Het vorige werk is van eigenaar veranderd. Komt dat zien, ... en wie weet ben ook jij verkocht?

A new work currently decorates the interior of Café Metropole, Leuven's 'Grote Markt'. The previous work has changed hands. Come and see, ... and, who knows, maybe you too will be seduced?

'Moby Dick?'

"Wat is jouw talent?' vroegen ze. "Waarschijnlijk het 'spotten' van dode dieren", bedacht ik, "ze verbergen zich niet en zijn gemakkelijker te vinden."

"What is your talent?" they asked. "Probably spotting dead animals," I thought, "they don't hide and are easier to find."

'Black Friday?'

"Is dit 'Black Friday?' vroegen ze. "Misschien wel" antwoordde hij. "Maar, het zou net zo goed een vogelverschrikker kunnen zijn op zoek naar stilte en reflectie in het woud."

"Is this Black Friday?" they asked. "Maybe" he replied, "but, it might as well be a scarecrow looking for quiet and reflection in the forest."
